Hi all, just a quick thing, I do intend to keep posting to the site despite the lack of content as of present, however I have been quite busy with other things and other projects, especially the one I'm about to talk about, I do also intend to upload the rest of my software to my site.
Anyway, with all that out of the way, I would like to make a cool announcement: I have purchased a rack server and am in the process of setting it up. I may document this process in a blog post, but am more likely just going to show it off in its finished state rather than providing a full setup explanation (as I won't be doing anything you can't find better guides for elsewhere). This server will run my web server (for this site), and a few other web services, likely such as BOINC. I have been wanting to get a rack server for quite a while now, especially for hosting and managing content that others can find online (such as this site!), and so I am excited to get it all up and running.
I will also likely be hosting my own GitLab/Git instances on there as while I disagree with the conduct of GitHub, I am perfectly fine with hosting my code on self-hosted platforms such as GitLab/a private Git repository on a local server for private/local repos and projects as this gives significantly less power to third parties in regards to how my code is stored, what the code may contain/do, and the publicity of said code. I will still however additionally host the latest builds/source code of my projects on this site as well. I am already using Git for local version control for the majority of my projects, and so the migration to the server shouldn't be too difficult.
The hardware for the servers is as follows (there are two of these in my rack):
I'm sure that this server rack will serve me well (no pun intended), and will hopefully increase the performance of the site while allowing me to host more resource hungry content such as vlogs and video tutorials (I am planning on doing some of that). I'm running low on ideas of what I could run to really make the most of the hardware, so if you have any suggestions to what I could host, please let me know! (Contact)
