Screw Nair

I used to use Nair branded hair removal cream for my facial hair and for my leg/arm hair. Recently however, I decided to check the packaging for any signs of "cruelty-free" or "ethically-tested" labels, hadn't checked before because I (foolishly) assumed that as Nair was sold in nearly every highstreet boutique and is the number one hair removal brand in the US, so it must be ethically tested. However upon my inspection of the product, I found no sign of any cruelty-free branding or signage, so I took to the internet to find out for myself.

I was disgusted by what I found, not just from the fact that Nair does test on animals, but how they try to hide it. Nair states on their site that they do not use animal testing for their, and this is important, *FINISHED* products. This is a sneaky way of saying that while the completed formula is not tested on animals by Nair themselves, the ingredients are individually tested on animals by third parties, and quite likely (although not confirmed) the finished product is tested on animals by third parties as well, this is why Nair is not certified by any cruelty-free groups.

I think it is terrible how companies like Nair can hide the fact that they use unethical animal testing like this. I believe that it should become a legal requirement for brands that don't ethically test to have large, noticeable, labels on their products that state that "we use unethical animal testing", similar to how cigarette packets must have graphic labels showcasing the horrors of smoking, except brands like Nair should have images of animals with chemical burns.

The parent company of Nair, Church & Dwight (owned by Matthew T. Farrell), also are in support of unethical animal testing, having many different brands that use animal products and use unethical testing, most notably the brand Arm & Hammer which started out as a baking soda company but now produces such as toothpaste, deodorant, and other bathroom goods. Arm & Hammer also conducts unethical animal testing, so should also be avoided like the plague.

I will never buy from this company again, and as my closing remark I must say this: screw you Nair, and especially super ultra SCREW YOU Church & Dwight. I detest those who unethically test and I refuse buy from brands that do so, never buy any product owned by these guys.
